I sought to create a monumental room, but at the same time with more human dimensions; where the contrast of materials, used in an unusual way, would be felt, imprinting dynamism and impact on the decoration.
The brief
It’s in São Paulo. But it could just as easily be in Soho – New York or London – Sydney or Seattle: or wherever the heart of rock beats strongly and makes itself felt. That’s where this elegant and unpretentious space pulsates, created by São Paulo architect Unique Vintage for the Mostra Black 2012. A project designed to house a bold, unconventional character, but one who doesn’t forgo the coexistence with works of art and high design.
Scope of Work
In practice, it’s a double-height living room, with two levels, where a metal and glass walkway connects the different levels of the space. An exuberant construction, something idyllic for a project of its proportions. “My client can afford these excesses,” jokes the architect, having in mind rock star Lenny Kravitz, her immediate inspiration for the creation.I met him a short time ago in Milan. Of course, I was already a fan. But I became even more so when I learned that he was a great admirer of art and interior design.
The conversation flowed freely, and the desire to create something for him was immediate,” says Fernanda, who, thinking of Lenny, conceived a space that is comfortable for the body, impactful to the eyes, and intriguing to the senses. “For him and for all those who have a rock attitude and live intensely,” she explains.

Stripped down to the right degree, the space also features stacks and stacks of architecture, fashion, and design books scattered throughout. In addition to an extraordinary collection of photographs, with an extreme color palette and impact, sophistication is evident. This is especially due to the scenic lighting that highlights the artworks and key volumes in the composition.
Not to mention the well-balanced use of noble materials, such as marble and mirrors, which appear in abundance on walls and floors.
