As a starting point, the project implementation maintained the building's original structure. "It was quite a challenging stage. Because it was an old building, it had structural solutions that needed to be modernized.
The brief
Fitting an extensive program into a relatively small space. This, broadly speaking, is the main challenge involved in renovating an old mansion – located on one of the busiest commercial streets in São Paulo – to house the new facilities of the Pompermaier Institute: a nationally recognized aesthetic clinic known for its innovative and technological aesthetic procedures.
“The idea was to offer the client a truly immersive experience. Our goal was for the client to really engage with the place, from their entrance through the garden to their service point,” explains São Paulo-based architect Unique Vintage, author of the project. In this sense, the flow of visitors through the different wings of the venue was carefully planned, aiming to reinforce the experience.
Scope of Work
Promoting the feeling of being at home, and not in a hospital environment, was taken as a basic guideline, guiding everything from the choice of furniture to the lighting, and from the type to the textures of the coverings. “In the lighting design, for example, we reinforced the presence of warmer lights, but which, at the same time, would not hinder the execution of the various procedures,” explains the architect.
